Job Summary

Our Client is seeking temporary Registered Nurses (RNs): General, Medical Surgical, Intensive Care, Emergency Department, and Dialysis.

The shifts/hours and days will be TBD based upon location and facility needs.

RN – GENERAL: Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical services to veterans with the ability to provide continuity of care from admission to discharge, an understanding of sterile technique, basic and complex nursing assessments, the ability to comprehend and administer medications, take vital signs, and document patient information into the patient’s electronic medical record.

  • Must be familiar with IV pumps (Imed, Gemeni, Alaris); Hoyer lift; Pyxis and Omnicell systems for administering narcotics; EKG machine; code cart basics; and computer skill basics.
  • Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the contractor: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Nurses must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • A current CPR/BLS certificate by the American Heart Association is required (although AHA is preferred, other organizations may be considered).

RN - MEDICAL SURGICAL: Provides skilled nursing care to medical-surgical patients with chronic illness or disability and who are not capable of caring for themselves for an extended period of time.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a master’s degree in Nursing
  • Experience: At least 2 years’ in medical-surgical nursing
  • Accreditation through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • A current CPR/BLS certificate by the American Heart Association is required (although AHA is preferred, other organizations may be considered).

RN - INTENSIVE CARE: ICU nurses service veterans with varying degrees of mental illness and co-morbidities requiring Medical and Critical Care – ICU/Stepdown interventions. Nurses will use judgment in assessing, planning, implementing, documenting and evaluating patient care of veterans within an inpatient setting where mental and behavioral health diseases requires close monitoring and at times, quick intervention. Coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the unit. The nurse functions both dependently and independently with guidance and direction from the Nurse Manager/designee.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a master’s degree in Nursing
  • Nurses must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Certification in Critical Care nursing accredited through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • 2+ years of Critical Care experience
  • A current CPR/BLS/ACLS certificate by the American Heart Association is required (although AHA is preferred, other organizations may be considered).

RN – DIALYSIS: Provides dialysis services to the veteran population with the ability to provide continuity of care from admission to discharge. Nurse must have experience in the dialysis setting. Must have an understanding of sterile technique, basic and complex nursing assessments, the ability to comprehend and administer medications, take vital signs, and document patient information in the patient’s electronic medical record.

  • Educational requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a master’s degree in Nursing or in related field is highly preferred.
  • At least 3 years’ experience performing hemodialysis on patients who are hospitalized in an acute setting and experience with dialysis of patients in intensive care unit setting.
  • Current unrestricted nurse license from any state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or a territory of the United States
  • ECG Course completion (preferred)
  • Must be familiar with the following: dialysis machines; IV pumps (Imed Gemeni, ALARIS pumps); Hoyer lift; EKG machine; code cart basics; and, computer skill basics.
  • A current CPR/BLS certificate by the American Heart Association is required (although AHA is preferred, other organizations may be considered).

RN - EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT (ED): The ED nurse provides emergency services to the veteran population from time of arrival in the ED to discharge or admission to Medical Center. The contract nurse must have an understanding of cardiac medications and rhythms, ACLS protocols, triage and IV medication administration. Nurse should also be familiar with Acute Coronary Syndrome and Pneumonia protocols and emergency situation and response. Nurses will use judgment in assessing, planning, implementing, documenting and evaluating patient care of veterans within the ED setting. The ED nurse functions both dependently and independently with guidance and direction from the Nurse Manager/designee.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a master’s degree in Nursing.
  • Certification in Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) accreditation through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) preferred
  • Current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Minimum of 2-years critical care experience within the last 3 years.
  • A current CPR/BLS/ACLS certificate by the American Heart Association is required (although AHA is preferred, other organizations may be considered).
